Prof. Chieri Yamada, PhD, MPH, RN

From Morioka City in Iwate Prefecture and graduated from special course for nursing teaching, Faculty of Education, Hirosaki University.

After a few years nursing practice at St. Luke’s International Hospital in Tokyo, she joined to Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers and was deployed to Paraguay for two years. Immediately after she returned to Japan from South America, she was recruited as a short- and long-term Expert of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). She worked for developing countries such as Zambia (Newborn baby Intensive Care Unit Nursing), Nepal (tuberculosis control, school health), Philippines (maternal and child health), Mongolia (iodine deficiency disorders control), Jamaica (information, education, and communication), Uzbekistan (community health nursing), Ethiopia (monitoring an assessment and activities system), and South Africa (capacity building of recording, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation), and so on.  She also worked for Drug revolving Initiative Program monitoring in Peru and Equador. In total of 13 countries.

She had taught Community Health Nursing at Hirosaki University in 1999-2005, then until January 2016 she represented a consultant company.
